Highlights from last year 2016

In September we support our famous and amazing friend, the world record holding adventurer Mark Beaumont in yet another incredible record breaking attempt in the name of charity. More on that later.

August – The biggest turn out of any club at the Ride Like A Pro run with the Jaguar dealership in Motherwell. 14 riders out in club kit looking fantastic.

Final events if the TT series with our 2-up club TT event with 12 teams competing in a handicap system where anyone can win!Following week we had the Team TT- another great night.

Saturday 22 August we headed away on the annual Presidents Run. 25 riders plus support vehicles where we all conquered some of biggest hill climbs in the U.K. to reach the highest road in Scotland. Another excellent away day.

JulyOur Tour De France Club Social saw 25 members down at the Drumpellier Cricket/Rugby Club in the newly renovated bar. The place is looking great and perfect setting for functions. A great day of racing with drinks, food and the usual banter. Thanks to Liz and Gillian who helped feed the bears.


JuneEverest Challenge. Riders of all abilities pushed themselves to the limit and beyond to tackle a big local hill climb as many times as their mind and body will allow. The club climbed 200,o0o feet as a team in an 8 hour period. Chapeau!

May- King Of The Mountains Club Run. A great day with 3 groups doing 120 milers, 90 milers and 77 milers over the toughest big climbs around. Awesome day and thanks to Jim and Allan for doing the support vehicle duties.

April, May and ongoing – Our SufferjetsThe Coatbridge Clarion ladies club run recently run saw a great day with our club members out with new riders. Our latest ladies run starring our own Sufferjets was on departed from Drumpellier Cricket & Rugby club. Another good day with a nice easy pace mainly on cycle paths with a coffee stop. Great for those getting started or who just want a nice few hours with the great girls from our club.

April -Our recent mountain biking away day was big success with over 20 members getting wet and muddy.

Sunday 12 April saw our Paris Roubaix club social at Drumpellier Clubhouse with a massive turn out and fantastic day. We had a full team on charity bag packing duties at Morrisons, Airdrie last Saturday. Customers were great and we raised fantastic amount for Airdrie Foodbank who were delighted to receive loads of much needed groceries for those in need. Many from the club took on the tough West Lothian Clarion Seven Castles Reliability Tour with many of our newer riders pushing themselves to their longest ever runs.

Seems like ages ago that Sunday 9th November we went to Infiniti Centre, Glasgow to support the legend Mark Beaumont in his 24 hour non stop STV Appeal charity cycle.

The Clarion had a great turnout and put in a fantastic effort to help boost the total mileage achieved. 2367 miles in 24 hours with Mark doing over 407 miles on his own. Awesome day to remember for our riders and their families who came along.
